Why you should have an Engagement shoot!

“Being engaged is a very special period in your life”

Being engaged is a very special period in your life, just as important as the wedding day itself. Sure you’ll have photos on your wedding day, but this is different! Your wedding is the day planned for a party with your family and friends, but an engagement shoot is all about YOU.

It’s a little window of time in your life. A slice of time that perhaps may be only a few months to a few years long so you’ll want some beautiful photos to look at for the rest of your life. They mark the beginning of a lifelong journey together.

“Spend some quality time together”

It’s the perfect chance to spend some quality time together. Treat your photo shoot like a date. Get your makeup and hair done, bring a bottle of wine and dress in something you might wear to a nice evening out or how you might dress for a special occasion. Engagement shoots should be easy going and less formal than your wedding day so you can expect a very relaxed, fun atmosphere. Our engagement shoots are slow paced, relaxed and informal and allows you to really soak in the time you have together.

“Get comfortable in front of the camera”

Many people feel threatened by a camera pointed in their direction. Getting comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day is the best way to overcome this. Once you have a chance to get used to being photographed and to relax into the process, you’ll be amazed at how comfortable and natural you can feel. Having an engagement shoot gives you a chance to develop that comfort BEFORE your wedding day. An engagement shoot gives you the freedom to practice for the big day, but in the privacy of your intimate romantic partnership, and not in front of an audience of family and friends.

“Is a great opportunity to get to know your photographer”

Having an engagement shoot is a great opportunity to get to know your photographer and see if you work well together. They will be spending your entire wedding day by your side so its so important that they compliment your wedding, make you feel relaxed and natural rather then being another stress to worry about! Get to know their shooting style and learn how they direct you while giving them the opportunity to learn about you, your story and what makes you you.

“You get beautiful photos!”

Save the date cards, thank you cards, a wedding website, a guest book … all of these are important aspects of your wedding planning that you can use your beautiful photos for.

Amazing photographs are created when you have a trusted relationship between you and your photographer and that’s why at Rawn and Pallow Photography we believe having an engagement shoot is the best way to develop a personal relationship with all of our clients.
